IF THERE HAS BEEN TOO MUCH RAIN, YOU WILL GET STUCK & WE DO NOT WANT you TO DAMAGE your car or THE PARK TURF. We do try to rope it off when conditions are too wet to park.

thank you for taking care of the park so that we may continue to use it in future years.

Nominees for the 2017-2020 Term on the CCRA Board of Directors:

Beginning July 14, 2017, the Nominations Committee initiated research and discussion about nominations to the Board of Directors, as per the CCRA bylaws, for the 2018-2020 term.  The Committee met twice, communicated much, and examined the breadth and depth of the issue at hand.  We agreed that members on the ballot slate of five should be active CCRA members who have shown genuine interest in, if not actual service to, the CCRA community. The five incumbent Board members, whose terms are expiring, have demonstrated both and each has expressed a desire to continue his or her Board service. The Nominations Committee considered these nominations and, consistent with CCRA by-laws, proposed the following slate, which the Board has approved for election by the membership for the five (5) volunteer director positions for the term of November 15, 2017-November 15, 2020: Paul Haar, Chris Kelly, Robert Lederman, Tim McTaggart, and Cathy Wolf.

CCRA is a critical touchstone for me and my family and connects us with neighbors and friends during the summer and throughout the year. I have served as the CCRA President during the past two years and served as the CCRA Vice President for three years and have been a Board member for two terms. I previously worked closely with past Presidents Gordon Fowler and Suzanne Resnick on various financial improvements to strengthen the club as well as on other efforts to maintain and retain the high quality of the experience at the association facilities. In a "hands on" way, I worked on issues involving the café, management of vendors, physical plant, membership benefits, and stability for tennis facilities and the Fairchild House. I have deep expertise and experience with the Montgomery County swim league which is the league in which the CCRA Stingrays compete. I was a swim team parent volunteer for well over a decade doing every job at a swim meet from runner to certified meet Referee and everything else in between, in sunshine and rain. CCRA has made significant recent improvements in its web site and membership communications, as well but there is more work to be done. I would like to see CCRA move in a more "tech" savvy direction during the next three years to cut costs and enhance benefits to members. If elected, I promise to continue to maintain a close stewardship over the club's expenses and overall efficiency without compromising members' experiences. I thank the Membership for its prior support and for allowing me to serve on its behalf.

Robert is a physician scientist at the National Institutes of Health. He and his wife Laura are the parent A representatives for the 2017-2018 seasons Stingrays swim team. Robert has served on the CCRA Board of Directors since 2014. He plans to continue to advocate for more transparency in CCRA governance, and to work to enhance the Stingrays and CCRA member experience.

I have been active in CCRA for the past 15 years. Both of my children have participated in the Swim Team. I am honored to have participated on the CCRA Board for the past three years, most recently with the CCRA Social Committee, assisting with the ice cream social, game day and end-of-summer dinner. I look forward to contributing on a greater basis for another three-year term. I have served as a leader in several professional and volunteer organizations including Chair of the International Law Section of the District of Columbia Bar, President of the Washington Foreign Law Society, President of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of La Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs and General Counsel of the Chinese-American Business Association. I care deeply about CCRA, its members and its future in our community.

I have been a CCRA member and a tennis player at the club for many years. This is my second time serving on the board, the first being approximately 25 years ago. As chair of the social committee, with the invaluable assistance of committee members, I have strived to create community at the club. We have initiated happy hours and game days and continued movie nights and theme suppers and we have a thriving book group (our bridge group has expanded and gone offsite and year-round!). I retired from the Montgomery County Family Justice Center, where I worked as a victim advocate for survivors of domestic violence. In the past I was the sole proprietor of an antique English jewelry business. Currently, I am an independent travel consultant and a volunteer at library conversation groups for English learners and for international exchange and leadership programs. My husband and I have lived in the Town of Chevy Chase for a long time and we are fortunate enough to have our son and daughter and their families (5 grandchildren) in the area.

Chris has been a member of the CCRA community for years and has served on the Board of Directors for a couple terms now. Most recently he has chaired the Long Range Planning committee, taking stock of future needs and associated funds necessary to keep CCRA beautiful and functional. Chris also has made valuable contributions to the Finance Committee and worked on the Grounds Committee. He is an avid swimmer and a regular at the CCRA pools.

All ballots, not voted in person at the Annual meeting, in order to be counted must be received by CCRA prior to 4:00 pm, on November 15, 2017.

Pursuant to Article IX, Section 4 of the By-Laws of the Chevy Chase Recreation Association (CCRA), the CCRA Nominations Committee has submitted, and the CCRA Board of Directors has approved for a vote of the CCRA permanent membership, the following slate of five (5) member nominees to serve as Directors on the CCRA Board for the term of 2017–2020:

1. Paul Haar
2. Chris Kelly
3. Robert Lederman
4. Tim McTaggart
5. Cathy Wolf

The By-Laws at Article XII, Section 4 provide that the existing Board may set the manner of the election. The Board has established that members will cast votes either as being in favor of the entire slate or opposed to the entire slate. Voting will not be permitted on a nominee-by-nominee basis nor will write-ins be accepted. Any ballot which is returned and which approves or opposes other than the entire slate, or is not voted, will be treated as null and void.

Only Official Ballots will be accepted. Only active permanent member families may vote and only one vote per active permanent member family will be counted. The voting family member must provide their first and last name, email address and signature for the ballot to be valid. If you have any questions, you may e-mail (preferred), or call Sue Kamenar at 301-656-2272.

Thank you for voting and for joining the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting.
