IF THERE HAS BEEN TOO MUCH RAIN, YOU WILL GET STUCK & WE DO NOT WANT you TO DAMAGE your car or THE PARK TURF. We do try to rope it off when conditions are too wet to park.

Please note: Voting results will be announced at the CCRA Annual Meeting, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the Chevy Chase Village Hall, Lambert Room, 5906 Connecticut Avenue. Members are encouraged to attend. Wine and Cheese reception follows the meeting.

Nominees for the 2018-2021 Term on the CCRA Board of Directors:

The Nominations Committee conducted a series of interviews in the late summer to fill two vacancies caused by the resignations of Peter Gilbert and Stephanie Lowet. Replacing Peter and Stephanie was daunting because they contributed mightily to the stewardship of the club and they will be missed. Maria Ferguson and Glenn Reynolds are on the ballot as new Board candidates. The Nominations Committee feels that their professional careers and life experiences will bring great value to the CCRA Board. Three current Board members round out the ballot of five candidates for the 2019-2021 term: Neal Lieberman, Bill Sandmeyer and Pat Xeller have been diligent, responsible Board members and have provided expertise, wisdom and dedication to CCRA throughout their tenure.

Slate of Nominees:

The Nominations Committee considered all nominations and, consistent with CCRA by-laws, proposed the following slate, which the Board has approved for election by the membership for the five (5) volunteer director positions for the term of November 15, 2018-November 15, 2021: Maria Ferguson, Neal Lieberman, Glenn Reynolds, Bill Sandmeyer, and Pat Xeller.



Maria is a longtime member and avid user/fan of CCRA. Each member of her family has found a niche at the club. Maria’s previous board experience includes serving on the Facilities Committee at the Edmund Burke School. She is currently a board member for HIPPY, a nonprofit that serves parents and preschool youth. She is the Executive Director of an education policy center at George Washington University and she writes a monthly column for Kappan, a national magazine for the education community.





A corporate entrepreneur, Neal is currently a principal at Washington, DC-based executive recruiting firm Krauthamer & Associates.  In the past Neal has advised, consulted and invested in a number of technology startups.  In 2012, Neal sold Gifford’s Ice Cream & Candy, Co., a regional ice cream manufacturer that he grew from one ice cream store in 2004 into a retail/wholesale regional brand with multiple stores. Neal has been a CCRA Board member for 3 years and a member of CCRA for 15 years.




Glenn and his family have been CCRA members since shortly after moving into the Martins Addition section of Chevy Chase in 2001. He is a regular fixture at the pool, along with his three sons.  In addition to being a committed lap swimmer, Glenn has become an active participant in the tennis program.  His son Dylan is in his third year on the swim team. Glenn works in the telecommunications industry, currently heading up the regulatory policy shop for Telcordia. In his past he managed a pool in Annandale.




Bill Sandmeyer and his family have enjoyed membership at CCRA for many years. He and his family have been active at the pool, with the swim team, and in the tennis programs.  Bill is currently the Director of the U.S. House of Representatives Members' Wellness Center, a health and fitness center that serves Congress. His service with the CCRA Board of Directors began in 2010. He has contributed in various areas, including Community Affairs, Operations, Nominations, and as an officer on the Executive Committee.  




Pat and her family have been members of CCRA for over 30 years. She has served on the CCRA Board since 2016. In the past Pat practiced law with several national nonprofit organizations, was on the Board of the DC Preservation League and was a stay-at-home mom, active in the PTA. Upon her return to full-time work, Pat headed the annual fund at an independent school and served in the MD Dept. of Economic Development. She currently works for a real estate investment trust near Baltimore.

All ballots, not voted in person at the Annual meeting, in order to be counted must be received by CCRA prior to 4:00 pm, on November 15, 2018.

Pursuant to Article IX, Section 4 of the By-Laws of the Chevy Chase Recreation Association (CCRA), the CCRA Nominations Committee has submitted, and the CCRA Board of Directors has approved for a vote of the CCRA permanent membership, the following slate of five (5) member nominees to serve as Directors on the CCRA Board for the term of 2018–2021:

3. Glenn Reynolds
4. Bill Sandmeyer
5. Pat Xeller
The By-Laws at Article XII, Section 4 provide that the existing Board may set the manner of the election. The Board has established that members will cast votes either as being in favor of the entire slate or opposed to the entire slate. Voting will not be permitted on a nominee-by-nominee basis nor will write-ins be accepted. Any ballot which is returned and which approves or opposes other than the entire slate, or is not voted, will be treated as null and void.

Only Official Ballots will be accepted. Only active permanent member families may vote and only one vote per active permanent member family will be counted. The voting family member must provide their first and last name, email address and signature for the ballot to be valid.
